Hello! My name is Jonah and I'm currently studying to become an educator on a social studies track at Murray State University. As my academic advisor, Dr. Gomez, has told me, "It's your job as an educator to think what is best for the student- they are what is important, " which is a sentiment I resonate closely with and have tried to fulfill daily. For myself, I am an award-winning history student, placing in numerous competitions and being recognized with a variety of academic honors. I've taken and passed every AP social studies class offered at my high school, and was even named as my graduating class's "Outstanding Social Studies Student 2025". I love history and the art of teaching, which I hope is evident in the services I provide.

I'm also a 3rd-generation educator, so I can definitely understand the important role an enthusiastic teacher plays in the efficacy of one's students. The goal of my lessons is to design an approach that works best for each learner, as the primary basis for learning is feeling understood as a student. This could manifest as a range of preparation tools, from personalized study guides to visual flash cards- I'm also an award-winning artist, which I love to implement into my lessons however possible (usually through token visual notes).

Further, while I understand any notable hesitancy due to my position as a student myself, I actually consider this to be one of my competitive advantages- I'm much better able to understand the demands and expectations of the modern classroom and what challenges are most often faced. I'm attending Murray State to teach what I tutor, which allows me to not only strengthen my skills as an educator, but those of my students. From simple test prep to acing AP exams, I am confident that I can build a tutoring relationship that makes us both stronger.

Approved Subjects

American History

American History

Last year, I earned the title of "Outstanding Social Studies Student" for my graduating high school class and have consistently excelled in detailed American historical analysis. My background includes passing the APUSH exam and winning multiple awards at my local university’s annual History Day competition in the American history category. I generally specialize in helping students master AP-level writing including SAQs and DBQs, as well as their chronological reasoning paired with historical contextualization. I strive to help students identify broad historical patterns in an effort to successfully navigate the requirements of AP free-response sections, as well as the daily coursework they face within these classes.
Art History

Art History

As the recipient of my high school’s "2025 Outstanding Art Student" award, I try and bring a unique, hands-on perspective to the study of Art History. I combine my practical knowledge of artistic techniques with the analytical skills that earned me multiple placements in a regional art gallery, a successful AP 2D Art and Design portfolio, as well as my artistic honors. I try and help students understand the intersection of historical context and visual composition to master formal analysis and any related curriculum requirements.
Drawing

Drawing

While I am relatively new to being labeled an "artist" I hope my accomplishments in my short experience with the subject may speak on my behalf. Over the past year I took and passed AP 2D Art and Design, submitting a completed portfolio under the theme of "Adaptations of Art Throughout History" which featured a diverse sampling of artwork. These pieces were either stylized depictions of poems (i.e. Percy Shelley's Ozymandias), translating their subject matter visually, or adaptations of preestablished works, such as Otto Dix's "Das Krieg" series. While completing this portfolio, I had a 2 separate pieces accepted into a regional art gallery hosted by my local university, where I won an award for graphic design. While I am a first-year college student focusing on my degree in education, I've previously won my high school class's "Outstanding Art Student 2025" award, as well as "Best in Show" for our 2024 school-wide art exhibition. Past these accomplishments, I above all would best be able to understand the stress and exhaustion put into "becoming good" at something as delicate as art. I've felt my fair share of imposter syndrome, and think I have a pretty good insight into the variables that can help one develop into a great artist because of this. Feel free to contact me for a look at my work, including (but not limited to) those included in my official AP Art student portfolio, as well as those accepted into my university's gallery :)
European History

European History

I have a proven track record in global historical studies, having passed the AP World History and AP Human Geography exams, while also studying AP European History extensively on my own (as this class was not offered at my high school). My research skills were further validated by multiple awards at my local university's annual History Day, where I demonstrated a high level of historical thinking and argumentation. I try and help students identify broad historical patterns to successfully navigate the specific requirements of the AP free-response sections, as well as the daily coursework they face within these classes.
Geography

Geography

Last year I earned the title of "Outstanding Social Studies Student" for my graduating high school class and have excelled in a variety of social sciences. My background includes passing the AP Human, AP United States History, AP World History, AP Psychology, and AP GoPo exams, as well as winning multiple awards at my local university’s annual History Day. I generally specialize in helping students master AP-level writing including SAQs and DBQs, as well as chronological reasoning paired with historical contextualization. Geography often serves as a bridge between the social and physical sciences, making a multifaceted background essential for understanding.
Government & Politics

Government & Politics

My expertise in political systems is backed by a high score on the AP Government and Politics exam and recognition from my high school's social studies department after being named my graduating class's "Outstanding Social Studies Student." I try and focus on making foundational concepts like federalism, civil liberties, and public policy accessible through clear and structured explanations, as these are often proven essential to a students larger understanding. I also draw heavily on my experience as a 2025 honors graduate to provide students with current study strategies for AP Government and Politics and its related exam.
Political Science

Political Science

My expertise in political systems is backed by a high score on the AP Government and Politics exam and recognition from my high school's social studies department, graduating last May. I focus on making foundational concepts like federalism, civil liberties, and public policy accessible through clear and structured explanations. I mostly draw on my experience as a 2025 honors graduate to provide students with current study strategies for AP GoPo and its related exam.

Understanding these underlying concepts is essential to mastering not only daily coursework, but how to tackle the AP exams as a whole.
United States History

United States History

I am a current undergraduate pursuing a degree in secondary education, which requires a social studies track. During high school I took- and passed- each AP social studies exam offered, including the AP US exam. I've also placed in numerous competitions for social studies, specifically U.S. history, at events hosted by my local university. I have also won my graduating classes "Outstanding Social Studies Student 2025" award, and received personal letters of recommendation from my past AP US and AP GoPo teachers.
USCIS

USCIS

I have personally taken and passed a 100-question version of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) naturalization exam, achieving a perfect score after extensive study of U.S. civics and standard English. I've tutored both American civics and English at the college level, which has allowed me to give well-structured, accurate preparation methods and material for the USCIS exam. I am also currently on a social studies track for my education degree, which covers the civics portion of the exam far more in depth than required. I've taken and passed this exact test myself, and am now pursuing a degree that has strengthened the knowledge I already had to pass this test in the first place. I hope we can work together to unlock this next vital chapter of your life together- as it's importance cannot be understated.

Exceptional Tutor!!

I took a chance signing up with a new tutor, but Jonah has been beyond exceptional!!! My daughter has been failing AP Government and getting ALL 50's on her tests. We should have hired Jonah long ago. From Day 1, he helped my child understand what she has not been understanding for months. His study guides are ABOVE & BEYOND and catered to what she needs. We have only had 3 sessions so far and she improved her test score by 20+ points already. We waited way too long to get started with Jonah and I wish we would have hired him months ago but he is helping my child so much. If you need an expert in government, history, politics, social studies, he is your tutor. Look no further, book him!
