Hello! My name is Jordan, and I have been teaching since 2015 with over 450 hours of tutoring experience on Wyzant. I hold two Bachelor's degrees from VCUarts in Art Education and Craft/Material Studies, and I am a CGMS-trained Montessori Lead Elementary Guide currently teaching 4th through 6th grade. Throughout my career, I have taught ages two through eighteen across public, private, and specialized roles.

I specialize in multi-disciplinary academic support, structured literacy, and creative enrichment. I am certified in the Roxie Reading program to support striving readers and those with dyslexia, and I use powerful supplemental tools like The Night Zookeeper to build strong writing and spelling habits. For language mechanics, I pull from my background in Latin—teaching Greek and Latin roots, prefixes, and suffixes (using curricula like Red Hot Root Words) to dramatically expand vocabulary and boost reading comprehension.

As a practicing artist with over a decade of formal art instruction experience, I also offer specialized coaching across a massive array of mediums. Whether it's traditional and digital illustration (Procreate/Photoshop), fiber arts, ceramics, metalsmithing, character design, or portfolio development for older learners, I love helping creative minds thrive. I also work with older learners on high-stakes writing, admissions essays, and organizational strategies.
