I am an energetic tutor, who will keep it fun and lighthearted during tutoring sessions while helping to challenge and mold your brain!
I have been in the education field for over 9 years now. I began my journey as a tutor while earning my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Purdue University. My first tutoring experiences were in person, working with students with special needs. After college, I began my career as a teacher. I have taught 5th grade for 5 years, 3rd grade for 4 years, and 4th grade for 1 year.
I have recently earned a Master´s in educational leadership and have attended several trainings learning about the science of reading. Creating online experiences for the students has been fun and rewarding!
I believe in creating learning environments that are flexible and unique to each student's learning style, pace, and interests. When teaching math I work on building a student's core understanding of concepts, rather than only teaching standard algorithms. When teaching reading I often integrate social studies and science concepts that draw in the interest of students and open them up to deeper learning. Reading can be accessible to all with the right tools. I have invested time and money into reading tools that can take your child's reading abilities to the next level. My online sessions include interactive activities such as games that we play together, videos, google slide activities, and ebooks. I am also open to providing homework/ enrichment activities via Google Classroom.
