Hi, I’m Joe. I’m a kind, patient tutor who specializes in breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable steps so students can make real progress with confidence.

I bring 20 years of professional experience as a data analyst, with deep expertise in Excel, SQL, BI tools, data problem-solving, and math. I studied Secondary Education at Buff State, with a focus on Computer Science, Art, and the Humanities. My teaching experience began with tutoring in college and serving as a summer camp activities director, and has continued through years of mentoring and instruction.

I’m also an award-winning artist and photographer whose work has been featured across multiple states. I’m flexible and responsive, helping students clear away setup or technical obstacles so they can feel supported and stay focused.

For parents, I create a calm, encouraging environment where students build confidence and learn at their own pace.

For adults, I’m especially effective at turning “this feels overwhelming” into “this finally makes sense.”

Drawing

Drawing

I took many art classes in college 15 years ago, including Drawing 1, 2, & 3(life drawing), and painting. Since then I've continued to draw recreationally. In 2011 I started to sell original work and accept drawing commissions. My focus has been on portraits and people, but I've also done landscapes, architecture, and pets. I'm also an award winning chalk artist and have been a featured artist at chalk festivals across the country.
Microsoft Access

Microsoft Access

I've used Microsoft Access for nearly 20 years. I was a Business Analyst for 13 years, most of that time spent in the financial sector, including 6 years at Citigroup. I built up a reputation as a "guru" and was sought out by co-workers at my site and around the world. I'm especially familiar with complex VBA and SQL. I'm able to make sense and decipher overly complex legacy databases. I'm also trained and very experienced in interface and workflow design. I have a personal Office 365 subscription. I use it for my own projects and stay up to date on the latest MS Access features.
Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel

I have over 15 years of experience working with Microsoft Excel. I have helped hundreds of friends, family, and co-workers learn everything from basic introductions to the most advanced techniques and buried properties. I have worked in both small businesses and global corporations. I can show and describe how to make professional looking reports, dynamic dashboards, interactive forms, and much more. I know the vital basics a beginner will need to understand and can teach extremely complex macro programming to help adept users take their work to a new level.
Photography

Photography

I bought a DSLR camera and have taken my photography seriously for 4 years. I do paid commissions including weddings, senior portraits, business headshots, and commercial photography. I'm a very technical person and have spent a lot of time learning and practicing photography. I've also used photography for creative expression. I founded and have been running a local photography club since June 2013.
Swimming

Swimming

I was in Varsity swimming for four years, my senior year my team were league champs. I was a certified lifeguard and counselor at an overnight summer camp for 3 summers about 7 weeks each year. I helped inexperienced campers ages 8 to 14 learn to swim. I've continued to be an active swimmer as an adult and volunteer with my kids neighborhood swim team.
Track & Field

Track & Field

I ran varsity track in high school for 4 years, becoming a team captain my senior year. My main event was the 400m, but I was also the team's fastest sprinter in the 100m, 200m, and 400m hurdles. I would run 4 events per competition, typically the 100, 200, 400, and either a 4x100 or 4x400 relay. I also practiced and could have been competitive in the long jump, triple jump, pole vault, 100m hurdles, and 800m. I've continued to be an active runner into adulthood.
Visual Basic

Visual Basic

I took Computer programming classes in college. I've been creating custom macros for MS Office products, which uses Visual Basic for Applications, for 13 years. I've learned many best practices and have created some very sophisticated applications and scripts. I've also worked with VB for fun, creating a QBASIC Gorillas game, maze generator, and interactive BI dashboards. I worked at Citigroup for 6 years and I was often sought out by other developers and analysts to help with complex macro-related problems.
