Hi, I’m Jessica Boone, and I’ve been a special education teacher for 21 years. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of students and learners, and I truly enjoy the work I do. I’m passionate about creating a welcoming and supportive environment where students feel safe, understood, and confident as learners. I value building strong relationships with both students and their families.
I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and went on to complete a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Louisville. My education, combined with ongoing professional learning, has given me a strong foundation in effective instructional practices, particularly in special education and literacy. I have training in structured reading instruction and enjoy using the Orton-Gillingham approach to support students who need explicit, multisensory reading instruction.
Throughout my career, I’ve taught in a variety of settings, including self-contained special education classrooms, small-group instruction, and one-on-one support. I work primarily with elementary-aged students and tailor instruction to meet individual needs, always focusing on growth, independence, and confidence. Teaching is more than a job for me. It’s something I care deeply about, and I’m grateful to do this work every day.
