Hello! My name is Harper, and I am a working aircraft engineer. I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering before starting my career right after graduation. I have always been passionate about Math and Physics, largely due to growing up in an engineering household. During middle and high school, I began exploring different career paths where I could use my love of these subjects and settled on Mechanical Engineering. I was lucky to intern at an airline during college that introduced me to the world of aircraft engineering, which is where I land now.
My high school physics experience was less than ideal, and my teacher was not the best at conveying the topics at hand. This is when I discovered my tutoring ability. Because of my interest in Math/Physics outside of the classroom, I was able to help my classmates with subjects we were learning in class. I would set up tutoring groups before classes started to help my peers grasp the concepts. I found that helping other people find that "Aha" moment was something I loved to do, and it helped me exercise my passion.
I continued tutoring and leading study sessions once I got to college, expanding my topics to Math (Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1-3, etc.) and Engineering (Physics 1-2, Statics, Dynamics, Heat Transfer, Machine Design, etc.). After graduation, I took a break from tutoring before recently stepping back into the world of middle school math and science with my nephew. This re-introduction reminded me of my passion and made me want to pursue opportunities through Wyzant.
