Hello! My name is Elizabeth. I have over seven years of experience as a high school teacher in competitive independent school settings and currently teach at an independent school in Lexington, Kentucky. As a writing tutor, my specialties are in college and other admissions essays and academic argument writing. However, I can adapt to a variety of needs.

I have a master's in English literature and a master's in secondary English education, both from Wake Forest University. Although I focus on high school students, my expertise equips me to work with middle school, college, and adult learners as well.

As I am currently on summer break, my hours are flexible to better serve you. My only request is that you provide me with at least six hours of notice before cancelling a session, otherwise resulting in a cancellation fee up to the full cost of the session. I am so excited to begin our sessions; please reach out to schedule tutoring with me or to ask me any questions!

College Counseling

For the past five years, I have tutored students at my competitive independent school as they have written a variety of college essays, including their main personal statement (including Common App essays), supplementals, honors college essays, and scholarship essays. I work closely with our college counseling department as I do so, using my expertise as an English teacher.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I teach students how to give presentations as part of their work for my class, including creating attractive slides for their presentations and how to engage the audience with eye contact, tone, and pacing.
