Experienced Writing Instructor & Science Tutor

A writing instructor for several years, I have taught classes through the Carnegie Center and other local organizations. I work as a freelance writer and editor providing services to national and regional businesses and organizations on a project and on-going basis. I have worked one-on-one with students from middle school through college on a variety of subjects and projects. Also, my work as a bookseller and general manager of a bookstore provided great experience in working with younger kids and teens. I co-founded the Teen Howl Poetry Series and have worked with a number of young writers locally.

My primary tutoring and mentoring experience has been with writing, editing, and test preparation, however my diverse educational background and inquisitive mind has kept my science knowledge relevant and helpful for tutoring in biology, A&P, and general science coursework. I am an avid reader who reads widely in fiction and non-fiction, current events and classics. In addition to subject specific degrees, I hold a masters in Education from The University of Akron. I can provide short-term assistance on a project or long-term guidance through a course of study.

I hold a B.A. in Biology from Transylvania University. Also, I studied massage therapy at the Cincinnati School of Medical Massage.

I hold a B.A. in English from Transylvania University and an M.F.A in Creative Writing from the Bluegrass Writers Studio at Eastern Kentucky University.

My undergraduate coursework in the humanities and liberal arts along with many years pursuing family genealogy projects have provided a strong foundation in American History.
