About Anna

I graduated in May of 2015 with honors from Earlham College with degrees in Biochemistry and Politics. Currently, I work at University of Kentucky, at Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center.

I am exposed to science on daily basis, and therefore believe I can be a great inspiration and motivation for students who struggle. I was Teaching Assistant for 3.5 years and have worked in academic enrichment center for 3 years. I have experience with both high school and college level students.

I graduated from IB high school in Canada where I took Biology and Chemistry HL, History and Math SL.

I am very passionate about science, and I firmly believe that education does change lives. If you need help, and would like to be tutor by someone who has gone through many different systems and never failed to find another way of explaining concepts, please contact me.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have studied in three different counties and have seen many different ways of explaining math to high school students. One thing that is similar across the systems is that you get better in math the more you practice different questions.

Biochemistry

I graduated with a degree in Biochemistry, have taken 6 classes that primarily focused on chemistry of biological systems.

Biology

In biology there is great need for memorization, but one thing that makes is easier is if you turn the concepts into stories, and every concept in biology (expect some more complicated thermodynamics), can be turned into story. I have taken IB higher level biology, and have completed classes in cell and molecular biology, physiology, anatomy and genetics.

Chemistry

Chemistry is definitely my favorite subject. People struggle with fundamental concept because in most cases they seemed abstract, but there are actually not that abstract once explained well.
I have tutored both high school and college level students, was teaching assistant for 3.5 years and worked one on one in academic enrichment center.

Prealgebra

I have tutored Pre-algebra for 7 years now. It is not the math that confuses people, it is poor explanation given as to why do we need to know algebra and how can we apply it in real life.

Extremely helpful!

Anna took the time to review my lesson plan before meeting with me so she knew exactly what to cover! She was patient and made sure I understood everything before moving on! Very nice and helpful!
