Hello. My name is Ms. Ray. I am a fun English teacher. I find out my students interests and find readings that they are motivated to read. I divide the hour, so we make sure we transition through grammar, writing, phonics, and reading. The hour goes quick because we have fun.
I graduated with a master's degree in education from Georgetown College.
I believe children want to learn. I understand children have short attention spans, so I know I need to provide information quickly and teach them with techniques they understand. I am a certified ESL/ESOL teacher. I am serious about advancing my ESL/ESOL students to understanding English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. When a student makes a mistake, I explain the concept, so they can consciously improve their English. I also assess and begin lessons at the student's level of English. Often, a student is more advanced than the student realizes. I will note the concepts the student already knows in order to give the student confidence of their abilities.
I have experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD and can provide accommodations for an excellent learning experience.
