There is a difference between learning how to read and reading to learn. Additionally, there is a great difference between reading fiction and non-fiction as well as which strategies are to be used. Reading is not hard if you have the right tools (strategies and knowledge). I know how to make reading fun, and I have never had a student who failed. Reading difficulties are generally gaps in knowledge and/or skills. Reading is about engaging with the text and making sense of it through hands-on activities and using visual tools.
