I teach both adults and children primarily in two areas: reading/writing and art. My wide skillset stretches from beginning reading and writing to advanced academic writing. I teach both adults and children primarily in two areas: reading/writing and art. My wide skillset stretches from beginning reading and writing to advanced academic writing. I completed my master's thesis last year, so have recent knowledge of APA format. I can teach a fifth grader to write a basic 5-paragraph essay, then move to helping a high school student write a more sophisticated research paper or application essay, and finish out my evening helping a graduate student explore how to write and format an annotated bibliography or understand different methodologies for organizing their research data.

I am open to special needs students who might need a therapeutic or individualized approach. It helps when a teacher can de-stress the process and break it down into manageable pieces, no matter what the age or level of the student.

For art students: I am both a writer and and an artist. My bachelors is in fine art, from Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, NYC, currently the #1 rated art college in the United States. I won their National Talent Search my senior year of high school and attended on a talent scholarship. I am a classically trained oil painter, and trained also in drawing, printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture, color theory, and art history. I studied watercolor technique at Rudolf Steiner College during my Waldorf teacher training. I studied masters level oil painting with a private studio teacher who is an instructor in the DAP program at U.C. I am currently studying therapeutic art making, including the use of drawing, painting, collage, and other mixed media for symbolic processing of feelings, and issues of self and identity, towards creating wellness and wholeness of the individual. I am good at helping art students find their individual style, or "voice."

Please contact me for more information and to schedule a lesson. I look forward to teaching you in a creative and fun style!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Linda is teaching my 9 year old granddaughter beginning drawing. Her lesson was far above my expectations. She is excellent at her teachings of drawing and her patience and understanding of teaching a child.

Great with my kid, highly recommended!

Excellent rapport working with my teenaged daughter. Linda was able to get my child motivated and excited to do some artwork and put together a portfolio for art school (my kid is often apprehensive about sharing her artwork with others). Linda is also very knowledgeable and knows her stuff!

Super creative, enthusiastic and fun teacher

Linda taught me a ton about grammar in just one session. She also is coaching me, helping me edit my writing, which is giving me more confidence. She is very fun and creative in helping me figure out how to get the most out of the lessons. I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking fir a down to earth and authentic person to work with, who is very knowledgeable.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Linda taught me the different skillsets that are needed for the jobs I'm applying to. I liked that she was patient and understanding. She helped me research the field and industry I'm looking to get into so I could write a fitting cover letter

Amazing and supportive tutor

Linda was amazing with my son. She was so supportive and encouraging he can’t wait for his next lesson. She also validated what I’ve always thought about my son that he’s a natural artist and her enthusiasm and just overall style of teaching is absolutely fantastic

Great with children

My daughter really enjoyed her drawing lesson. She learned about proportions and perspective. Linda provided an excellent summary of the class right away. Very professional and we look forward to more sessions.

Linda is knowledgeable and understanding

I love how Linda suggested innovative ideas. Each session has offered ideas which will be helpful for my Cumulative Project. Linda presents with much zeal for the subject matter and that keeps the sessions engaging.
