Hi, I’m Diana! I am a patient and compassionate educator who enjoys helping students build confidence while developing their academic skills. My interest in tutoring began in high school, when my AP math teacher encouraged me to tutor other students as a way to build my confidence and communication skills. I have always enjoyed math, anatomy, physiology, and history, and I especially enjoy finding different ways to explain a concept until it makes sense to the student. I also grew up with a mother who was a professional teacher for 38 years, which gave me an early appreciation for education and the importance of meeting students where they are.
For the past several years, I have worked with children and adolescents in educational and behavioral settings. I spent six years working at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in a psychiatric hospital setting before transitioning into Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Through my work in education, I earned my Educational Aide certification through the Ohio Department of Education. I currently work as a teacher in a charter school serving autistic students and students with developmental differences. Last year, I provided primarily one-on-one instruction to preschool and first-grade students, and this year I will be teaching high school students. I have experience adapting instruction, breaking difficult concepts into manageable steps, using repetition and encouragement, and adjusting my approach based on each student's individual learning style.
I am also autistic myself, which gives me personal insight into the fact that students do not all learn or communicate in the same way. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Whether a student needs help understanding a math concept, studying anatomy and physiology, preparing for an assignment, or simply building confidence in their academic abilities, I strive to make learning approachable, engaging, and meaningful.
