I am a certified teacher with more than 30 years of experience in education. I spent eight years as a self-contained classroom teacher, teaching multiple subjects, and more than 20 years teaching in middle school mathematics or language arts classrooms. I am most comfortable teaching students in kindergarten through eighth grade, although I have also tutored students through college algebra. My experience provides a strong foundation for supporting students across subjects, particularly mathematics and language arts.
I hold a degree in Middle School Education with concentrations in Math and Communications from Berea College and a master’s degree in Middle School Math Education from Eastern Kentucky University. I also have a degree in Library Media from Murray State University, an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education, and a doctorate in Leadership and Superintendency from Oakland University. For more than ten years, I have served as my school district’s gifted and talented coordinator.
I especially enjoy one-on-one tutoring because it allows me to focus on each student’s learning needs and goals. My approach centers on helping students strengthen the areas in which they want to grow, drawing on my classroom experience and subject knowledge to guide their learning. Through individualized support, I aim to help students deepen their understanding and develop confidence in their abilities
