I'm Olivia! I have a bachelor's degree in English and a paraeducator certification. I've tutored visually impaired students for many years. I am fluent in braille, grades 1 and 2, I've worked with orientation and mobility, and I am familiar with various different accessibility tools. I've worked with students with a wide range of visual impairments. I also have experience working with children who have multiple disabilities including cortical visual impairments. I have experience tutoring online, and in person. I always like to adjust curriculum based on each child's individual needs.
I believe whoever teaches a student needs to have a passion for the topic being taught. I love watching imagination come to life and students thriving as they learn to navigate their way with accessibility. I can help with offering large print, braille transcription, and technology accessibility. I have worked with various different visual impairments including CVI and deaf-blindness. I am familiar with a wide variety of assistive technologies, including perkins braillers, braille touch, monarch, PIAF, JAWS, DEZMOS, etc. I usually focus on braille/visual reading skills, spelling, writing, and mathematics. I am very passionate about visually impaired children receiving what they need to access a quality education and I would be more than happy to offer blind/visually impaired resources as well.
