Hello! My name is Matthew, and I tutor students in science, writing, test preparation, and study skills. I hold a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Arizona State University, earned cum laude, and completed first-year medical school coursework after working in clinical and research settings. My background includes biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, psychology/sociology, statistics, R-based data analysis, scientific writing, and MCAT preparation, with particular strength in CARS and passage-based reasoning.

My tutoring style is patient, plain-language, and structured. I focus on helping students understand the logic behind a problem rather than just memorizing the answer. For science and math, I break complex ideas into smaller steps, connect them to real examples, and help students identify patterns. For writing, I help with organization, clarity, argument structure, grammar, proofreading, essays, personal statements, and thesis-style work. I also enjoy helping students build study systems, manage executive functioning challenges, and develop confidence when school feels overwhelming.

I have experience tutoring students one-on-one in math, science, organic chemistry, writing, and test preparation, and I have worked as a trainer and mentor in professional settings. I am especially well suited for high school, college, pre-health, and adult learners who want a tutor who is calm, direct, encouraging, and able to explain difficult material without judgment. My goal is to help students leave each session with a clearer understanding of the material and a practical plan for what to do next.
