Hi, my name is Tyler. I started my college education at my local community college, eventually going on to get my B.A in Anthropology from California State University Long Beach. I then went onto medical school at the University of Oklahoma, and am now a resident in psychiatry. During this time I discovered my joy for teaching/tutoring others and worked as a tutor at the community college tutoring center. I also ran a supplemental course for a chemistry course for nursing students. I continue to enjoy teaching medical students as I go through residency!
My goal while tutoring is to explain topics in unique ways to help create understanding of the subject matter. I work through small lesson plans to help supplement the students knowledge. However, some teaching is important, I believe the best learning comes from practice. I help with practice problems not by answering them for the student, but guiding them through the problem so they are able to conceptualize it on their own.
I have about two years of tutoring experience in algebra, chemistry, and biology. During my time as a tutor I worked one on one sessions with local college students, and ran a supplemental course for 10-15 nursing students.
I want to provide the best help I can to help my students reach their potential. Therefore, any extra resources or suggestions students or parents have are welcome. I will respond quickly and am easy to reach anytime. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
