Salve! (Sahl’-vay) - Hello in Latin!
My name is Dylan and I have over 15 years of tutoring experience helping learners of all ages (8-70) reach their learning goals.
Professionally, I’ve worked as an educator for over 20 years. As a K-12 teacher in school and learning center environments, I’ve taught English, Math, Latin, and Music and mentored a team of tutors. I’ve successfully worked with students one-on-one and in small groups, both in person and online.
*English - Grammar, composition, essay writing, public speaking, and PowerPoint presentations.
*Math - Pre-algebra, algebra I, and geometry.
*Latin - Elementary and middle school Latin basics (grammar, pronunciation, historical phrases, and Latin hymns). For high school students I’ve taught complete Latin programs. Several of my students have earned gold and silver medals in the National Latin Exam.
*Music - Theory, ear training, singing, Gregorian chant, and how to play guitar for K-12 students and adults.
In the corporate world, I’ve worked as a certified computer trainer to teach adults Microsoft Office skills.
I am a liberal arts graduate of Thomas Edison State College in NJ and studied Music Education and Gregorian Chant at the Catholic University of America Graduate School. I earned a certificate in Minor Orders from St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary, where I studied Philosophy, Theology, and Latin. And I studied music theory, ear training, composition, and classical guitar at the Mannes College of Music in New York City.
My professional certifications include Learning and Development (APTD), Project Management (CAPM), Change Management (Prosci), and Mental Health First Aid (Adult and Youth). I am also a certified Health and Wellness Coach.
I take a student-centered approach when I tutor and help students use SMART goals when completing lessons.
