I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Emporia State University, and I am currently in the process of obtaining my teaching license. During my final two semesters, I completed a full-time student teaching placement in both kindergarten and 2nd grade classrooms, where I had the opportunity to lead whole group, small group, and one-on-one instruction. I collaborated with experienced mentor teachers to create meaningful, engaging lessons tailored to student needs.
In addition to my formal teaching experience, I have shadowed teachers in two different elementary schools in Emporia, Kansas, which helped expand my comfort level with a variety of grade levels and learning styles. I’ve also volunteered at district-wide reading events, where I read books aloud in both Spanish and English, interacting with students and families to help build a love for literacy. My experience working with ELL students began in high school through a teaching pathways program, where I supported middle school learners who were new to the English language.
Beyond the classroom, I worked at a daycare for two years, where I helped children from infancy through Pre-K develop early learning skills like color and shape recognition. I love helping students grow in both academics and confidence, and I approach each tutoring session with patience, enthusiasm, and a desire to meet learners exactly where they are.
