In more than two decades of work as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, I have seen patients ranging from 104 years to 27-week preemies. My work has taken me far beyond typical floor therapy. I have been involved with emergencies, traumas, rapid responses, code blues, emergency C-sections, and the care of NICU babies, ICU, pediatric, post-operative, and tracheostomy patients, and much more!

I have a BS in Organismal Biology from the University of Kansas and an AS in Respiratory Therapy from Johnson County Community College. I am a licensed RT in Kansas and Missouri. In addition to being an ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP Provider, I provide ABG competency training to all respiratory staff and am an Orientation Preceptor who works with both new grads and more seasoned hires. I have been a Clinical Instructor / Substitute Teacher in the RT Program at Concord Career College. I am also a well-liked Nursing Educator, with positive feedback from both nursing and respiratory administrators as well as my students. In addition to my respiratory experience I have provided one-on-one tutoring in biology and history for middle- and high-school students. I love learning and spend more time reading than my wife understands but less than I would like! Regardless of my audience, my goal is to not only help you understand material but see how learning will be beneficial. For instance, I like to include my biology background with RT tutoring and nursing education; giving a glimpse of how the cellular level impacts what we are dealing with on the surface issues.
While I continue to enjoy my clinical work as an RT I have found a true passion for teaching in the educational opportunities that have become available to me. Whether you are a middle schooler in your initial introduction to biology, a high school student struggling to understand what there is to learn from dissecting a fetal pig, or a college student facing ABG, ventilator, or trach units, let me know what you need to learn. I’d love to help you be excited about it!
