Learning how to think is what transforms nursing students into confident clinicians. If you are studying for hours but your scores are not improving, it may not be about working harder—it may be about learning differently.
Whether you are beginning nursing school, repeating a nursing course, preparing for NCLEX, or struggling with a care plan or research assignment, success comes from understanding concepts, recognizing patterns, and applying knowledge. That's the approach you'll find...

Patient and encouraging
I came to Shara for tutoring when I was truly struggling in nursing school. I found it so hard to understand and retain everything before exams, and I felt overwhelmed. But Shara changed that for me. She was patient, encouraging, and walked with me every step of the way—not just through nursing school, but all the way to the NCLEX. Her tutoring sessions were more than just study time; they were confidence-building moments. Shara helped me learn how to critically think like a nurse, and that made all the difference. I actually looked forward to our sessions because I knew I was learning and growing with her guidance. Fun fact: before I took the NCLEX, one of my professors doubted I would pass on the first try. But I did it—I passed on my first attempt—and Shara played a huge role in making that happen. I truly couldn’t have done it without her support and belief in me. She not only helped me succeed, but also reminded me that I was capable, every step of the way.
Jessica, 22 lessons with SharaTutor responded:Thank you so much for your kind words, Jessica! YOU did all the “heavy lifting!” I’ve loved working with you and am excited to follow your next steps in your NICU nurse residency! Shara
Excellent and patient tutor
Shara is incredibly kind and patient. My daughter was quite emotional about her current status as a nursing student, yet Shara was able to calm her down, reassure her and help her understand what she needs to do to catch up and be successful in her Pathophysiology course. I highly recommend her!
Melissa, 1 lesson with SharaTutor responded:Thank you so much for the feedback, Melissa! .It's just what nurses (and parents) do, albeit usually in person and perhaps adding a reassuring hug, right?. I'm grateful that what we BOTH said and did in that moment stabilized her situation enough for her to recover her own natural resilience. She really did push through and now has a little breathing room and time to regroup!
Knowledgeable, patient and supportive
Ms. Shara has been there for me since the initiation of my DNP project; her sincere guidance and care are unmatched. She assists not only academically but also spiritually and emotionally. She taught me how to conduct research and deliver verbal presentations, despite my speech impediment. My assist me in rebuilding my confidence. If I were financially equipped, I would pay her more than she asked for her services. She is a true and rare gem. Money well spent. Thank you, Ms. Shara.
Waveney, 72 lessons with SharaTutor responded:Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. It means more than you know. A DNP QI often feels overwhelming, and if your words help even one student find the confidence to keep going, you've made a difference beyond your own success. It was a privilege to work with you. Seeing students reach goals they once thought were impossible is why I tutor. Congratulations on all you've accomplished!
Good feedback on writing
What I like about her feedback is that it sticks with your writing and highlights areas for improvement, even if the subject is not her specialty. But the specialty must be in the field of "helping" professions, such as nursing, teaching, and therapy. Plus, good with doctoral students like me (class assignments).

Amazing
She was very patient and understanding. Also gave you ample time to complete things and heard you out when you didn’t understand something so she can help you. She gives multiple study ways and makes you put in effort.

Rigid, high pressure tutoring style; NOT student centered
Unfortunately, this tutoring relationship was not a good fit. While Shara appears knowledgeable, her tutoring style was very rigid and one-size-fits-all, and it did not accommodate my documented learning challenges or current academic context. Rather than focusing on collaborative, course-specific support, the approach centered heavily on prescriptive study philosophies that felt inflexible and overwhelming. The experience also involved pressure to purchase multiple external resources (including textbooks and programs such as Simple Nursing) and follow a tightly controlled schedule. This created significant stress and left little room to pause, recover, or adjust — even during academic break periods. The most concerning part was receiving extensive written judgments about my motivation and independence before the semester had even begun, instead of supportive, adaptive academic guidance. These evaluations were made without allowing time to assess my engagement, progress, or learning needs within the actual course. I ultimately found a different tutor who is more patient, flexible, and focused on meeting students where they are academically, which has been a much better experience. I would caution students who need individualized, disability-aware, or lower-pressure tutoring to ask very clear questions up front about flexibility, required materials, and scheduling expectations before committing. --- Aleeza Kane., Nursing Student)
Aleeza, 4 lessons with SharaTutor responded:I’m sorry to read this review following only four tutoring sessions. My work focused on the student’s stated goals at the outset: developing a consistent study process she has not previously had and preparing early for the upcoming semester with an agreed-upon two-week plan of 4-5 hours supported self-study daily. I provided structured guidance, step-by-step support, and additional unpaid time to create both short-term and semester study plans aligning with her learning challenges. I regularly work with nursing students who have learning challenges, and many succeed when provided with structured methods and targeted resources—often supplementing support their programs are unable to offer. The recommendations made were appropriate, low cost, and commonly effective; however, minimal use reduced their potential impact in this instance. As sessions progressed, differing expectations around goals, communication, and session structure emerged, and plans changed multiple times. For this reason, I voluntarily suggested—prior to the student review—that another tutor might be a better fit. I sincerely hope the student receives the consistent, well-aligned support needed for her upcoming complex, peds, and nursing research courses. Readers are encouraged to review other student feedback reflecting my long-term work with nursing students across a range of learning needs.

Knowledgeable
I recently worked with Shara for the first time, and I was genuinely impressed. Even though it was our first session together, she was incredibly patient, prepared, and supportive. She explained concepts in a way that made sense to me and helped me feel more confident in my understanding.
