Hi, I'm Peyton! I am currently getting my bachelors degree in Bioengineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I am passionate about math and helping students achieve that "aha" moment.
I have one year of experience as a Mathnasium tutor, where I managed up to four students at a time. This taught me how to effectively help multiple students with very different needs. I also learned how to teach elementary and middle school math concepts in a way that made sense to students, and I have been able to apply this way of thinking about math to all levels. I also have two years of experience as a private tutor, where I have taught students ranging from elementary to high school. I have tutored these students in their math classes and for test prep. I got a perfect 36 on the ACT and a perfect 1520 on the PSAT, and I love helping others reach their test goals. In addition to content knowledge, I am able to teach my students strategies and tips for these tests.
In high school, I aced AP Calculus BC (the equivalent of Calculus 1 and 2), as well as Multivariable Calculus and AP Statistics. I love calculus because of the way it builds on itself, which is something I pass on to my students. When I tutor calculus, I start with an explanation of how and why the concept works, and a real world application if possible. This is what helped me understand and fall in love with calculus, so I use it to help others do the same.
