I have taught for 23 years and coached sports as well. My specialties are all social studies courses with the most experience in economics, govt., geography, and all history classes. I have two school age children myself, and I have done individual tutoring with them since they entered school. I build knowledge by starting with simple examples and increasing the difficulty based on the student's abilities. I taught both middle and high school in my career so I can handle all levels of educational achievement. I like to use present day examples that are relevant to students so they can better grasp certain concepts easier. The most excitement I get with education is when a student who couldn't understand a concept finally "gets it". I want them to not only learn in the immediate but to become enjoy their experience so they become life-long learners.
For this to be successful, I like to improvise with a variety of teaching methods. Texts, problem solving, inter-net examples, visual examples (videos, etc.), and writing exercises are used to insure the learning process can be a successful experience.
