College Essay Breakthrough
What scares high school senior the most? The dreaded college essay. Ask them to regurgitate arcane facts from Medical Europe- no problem. Complex calculus quizzes? Easy. But tell me about a community you value and how to can contribute to our community and it might as well be written in a foreign language. Fortunately my son has a great writing coach in Lori. She has been patient and kind, meeting my son where he is at in the process and offering encouragement and proven techniques to help get his voice down on paper. You can tell that she genuinely loves helping young people tell their story in a compelling way. Regardless of whether someone thinks it’s the right essay to gain admittance to university, it will be far more rewarding to have a process and love for writing that will supper him in his future academics and eventual career. When I first approached Lori with my scholarship essay question, I had no idea how to answer the question or how to structure the essay. She asked me questions that helped me brainstorm and structure the essay. I know that I wrote the scholarship essay, but if it weren’t for Lori writing assistance I wouldn’t have had an understandable, grammatically correct essay to turn in. Thanks to her assistance the scholarship committee understood my story and I even won the scholarship. I still enjoy working with Lori on other assignments.

I was really confused on how to approach my assignment. Lori helped me brainstorm ideas and then she met with me again to go over my project. She also met with me for longer than the meeting time and was so nice about it! She was so wonderful and made the tutoring process fun.
