My husband and I lived in Germany for one year, after I studied German at the high school and college level, getting a double major in English and German. I was one of three German teachers in the U.S. to win the Teacher of Excellence award (2011) from the Goethe Institute.

As a grammar teacher, I am adept at the nuances of the English language. I also have mid-to-upper-level experience with German grammar. I have an English degree at the bachelor's level, and have additional college hours in writing and grammar.

I work primarily with teenagers, but I also have prior experience tutoring GED students in various subjects. Thesis statements are typically one to two sentences long and are the basis of a student's paper. They can make a claim about a topic, describe the overall purpose, or offer a summary of an argument. I have advised students on proper thesis statements over the last 20+ years. In completing English B.A. and M.A. degrees, I have also written many of my own thesis statements. Whether for a formal writing assignment or a shorter essay, students often need help crafting thesis statements.

I am highly qualified to tutor in writing, as I have an English Bachelor's degree and 15 years of experience teaching writing at the high school level. My senior English class is focused primarily on preparing college-bound students, so we practice and write a lot! I also have prior work experience tutoring GED and non-traditional students, and have worked with students as young as 4th grade. I have been practicing yoga for over 15 years, and I've taught yoga to middle and high school students, as well as to adults at our local recreation center. I can offer beginning yoga for those who have no experience or limited experience. I can also offer flow-based intermediate practice. Fun with German

Sam is having a great time learning German with Melanie. She makes it very fun and engaging for his age(10yrs). He looks forward to his lesson each week. He really seems to be picking it up nicely and is not intimidated with the learning. It's fun to hear him speaking the language during his lesson.
