I am a retired emeritus professor of Political Science and also a retired Lt. Col. US Air Force. I am the author of a 600 page US Politics textbook and co-author of a book on the US Congress.
I have taught at both Indiana University (4 years) and Kansas State University (34 years). I have also done research on the US Congress and worked in a Congressman's office on Capitol Hill and spent a summer working in the Pentagon before attending the US Air Force Air War College for a year.
I have been called on frequently to comment on political issues by the press (including the New York Times and USA Today) and television (local stations and CNN). I received a Stamey teaching award from Kansas State and I bring a lifetime of experience to supplement my teaching.
My personal experiences with American history and politics began when I listened to a radio broadcast announcing President Roosevelt's death in April 1945. I followed the Korean War closely as a ten year old and was a senior in college when the Cuban missile crisis happened. I helped fight the Cold War as an officer in the Strategic Air Command. I have studied and followed all of the presidential elections beginning with Truman's upset win in 1948 through the 2012 Obama win.
