I'm Carly! I graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Masters in Curriculum and Instructional Design with a focus on literacy. I am a licensed K-6 teacher in the state of Kansas with my ESOL endorsement. I have 8 years of in-person classroom teaching experience and 6 years of online tutoring experience. I became a teacher because I absolutely love seeing students reach their goals, gain confidence in themselves, bridge academic gaps, and reach their full potential. I specialize in reading comprehension, reading fluency, phonics, phonemic awareness, spelling instruction, vocabulary, writing, grammar, math computation skills, math fact fluency, social studies, and social-emotional learning. I teach by gradually releasing responsibility of the content to the student. I begin my modeling and explaining the skill, then the student and I practice the skill together, and finally the student has the opportunity to use the skill independently. All the while, I monitor the students' progress and adjust my teaching to meet their needs.

You will find that I am a patient, encouraging, and knowledgeable teacher. I find that setting goals with students, reflecting on our learning together, and using data to drive instruction is the most effective when supporting a family's learning goals. When working with parents I understand that you know your child better than anyone, so I will take your input and opinions very seriously. I am willing and able to be flexible with how and what I teach your child.
