Hi! My name is Mikayla, and I am a practicing Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). I have always had a genuine passion for nursing, science, and helping others learn. While I was in nursing school, I spent about a year tutoring students in lower-level nursing courses. I loved tutoring because I remember how overwhelming nursing school could feel, and I enjoyed helping students turn difficult concepts into something they could understand and apply. Now that I am practicing as an RN, I can bring real-world clinical experience into my tutoring. I can help with nursing fundamentals, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, anatomy and physiology, dosage calculations, clinical reasoning, exam preparation, and nursing skills.
My tutoring style is patient, relaxed, and individualized. I do not believe in simply giving students answers or relying on memorization. Instead, I like to figure out where a student is getting stuck and explain the concept in a way that makes sense to them. I especially enjoy using real-life clinical examples and practice questions to connect what students learn in class to situations they may encounter as nurses. Whether you need help preparing for an exam, working through practice questions, understanding a challenging concept, or building confidence in your nursing knowledge, I want our sessions to be a comfortable place where you can ask questions without feeling judged. I also enjoy working with middle and high school students in science-related subjects and would love to help younger students develop an interest in healthcare and science. My goal is for every student to leave a session feeling more confident, prepared, and capable of succeeding.
