My name is Dillion I am a HUGE movie fan I graduated from American Film Institute with a masters in Production Design. Having autism I never fit in well so I would watch short films at recess and movies when I got home so movies have always been a HUGE part of my life.
I combine both your typical teaching style with a method called “passive absorption” (the ability mentally learn something without trying) both of these methods have proven to work for people and I know that everyone learns different.
In my lessons they will feel like it will just be you and me talking about movies or about TV but between the talks I will ask your typical teacher questions “why did you like this” and “what didn’t you like about that” and “why didn’t you like that” and other questions as to assure a psychologically installation of the skills (passive absorption) so it will just feel like we are talking and not learning.
then at the end of EVERY LESSON I will have you write a critical review of a movie or TV show or video you watched and the typical things what you liked and what they didn’t and next lesson we will talk about your critical review and I will give you feedback before we would go again into the passive part.
The end game is for not only me to see your skills but also for you to see how your are improving and even have something physical for you to see how well you improve in there skills via the paper analysis, as I’ve found it the more you can see your progress the more you are confident in your abilities.
I can promise that I will always be patient and excepting of each students pace in progress as everyone progressed at there own pace. As I’ve seen those tutors who are to tough and even insult there students who can’t get it right the first time (I have had many of them) well to me I know everyone learns at there own pace and I will never judge you negatively my aim is to unlock your potential not put you down
