I'm Landon. I graduated from the University of Kansas with highest distinction and a bachelor's degree in Political Science and French. I was also awarded the outstanding graduate award from the department of French & Francophone studies. I conducted roughly 7 months of my studies in Angers, France at the Université Catholique de l'Ouest. After graduating from KU I then moved to Cholet, France as an english language assistant until returning to the US this November. I have studied the French language for the past 7 years and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. I always found that the best way to learn is to immerse yourself in the language and interact with it as much as possible in your daily life. Furthermore, it's vital to learn through subject material that is not only practical and applicable to daily life but also interesting. If the student is drawn in by the material they'll learn much more naturally rather than feeling forced. That's why while teaching in both the US and France I always tried to personalize each lesson to my students interests in order to create a desire to learn.
While teaching in France I adapted to each classroom I was placed in. Often times I worked directly with small groups of students creating a more intimate experience, but occasionally I delivered lessons to entire classes of roughly 20 students. I always offered extra help to those that sought it out and found immense satisfaction in helping student's go the extra mile to achieve personal goals.
My primary goal is to help the student improve their French language skills in any way possible. Whether that's targeted to oral comprehension or just improving their overall level, my utmost priority is progress. Additionally, I welcome any suggestions for resources or ideas on how I can improve a student's experience. Learning is a two way street!
