Hi! My name is Roman G, I am a graduate of Berklee College of Music earning a bachelors degree in Professional Music with concentrations in Brass Performance, Composition, and Music Production and Engineering. Before arriving at Berklee I was primarily self taught, this has allowed me to shape a unique perspective when it comes to educating my students. In the beginning, I had very little guidance when it came to the subjects I am now very familiar with. I had to use varieties of resources and techniques in order to aid in my own education. Not only did I do this to discover new concepts, but to learn and retain them as well. I do not want my students to have to struggle in similar ways. To this end, I take pride in tailoring my teaching approach to my student's unique learning goals. There can be no "one size fits all" approach to teaching if a student is to truly absorb and put to use the information they have been given.

I have had the privilege of tutoring students over the past 5+ years in both trumpet playing and music theory from different eras. In that time, I have used this individualized method to help my students regardless of level or background. While there is NO SHORTCUT to learning music in any sense, and practice is the key to learning any skill, there are easier ways to understand music and to appreciate the beauty that lies therein. Besides helping my students achieve their academic goals, appreciation for the art form is always at the core of my lessons. Another core tenement of my lessons is allowing the student to feel comfortable in the art of discovery. It can be intimidating to begin a subject you have little to no knowledge of, but that can also be part of the fun when framed correctly.

I want to be as much benefit to my students as possible, therefore I welcome any suggestions or resources that students or parents can provide. I am easy to reach and always provide quick responses. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions, or to schedule a lesson.

Composition (Music)

Composition (Music)

I began my compositional journey entirely self-taught and was able to gain incredible insight and further training from my time at Berklee College of Music. I can show you how to write everything from arrangements of your favorite tunes to original compositions regardless of genre or style. While I am very familiar with a variety of engraving software, including Sibelius and finale, for example, I prefer to mentor my students using Musescore.
General Music

General Music

Graduate of Berklee College of Music specializing in Brass Performance, Composition, and Music Production and Engineering. I was fortunate to be able to hone many disciplines while there including; a variety of music theory, ear training, music history, and production to name a few. As an active musician I am constantly putting all of my skills to the test and continuously growing those skills.
Music History

Music History

Music history and music theory tend to be thought of as two separate entities. During my time at Berklee, knowledge of the history of music was just as important as the techniques. This includes music classical (tonal) music, music of the African diaspora, sociology of black music, and the importance and relevance of female composers from every period.
Music Production

Music Production

During my undergrad at Berklee College of Music I was fortunate enough to study under some world class producers including Sean Slade, Patrick Soria, Sean mcLaughlin to name a few. I learned production not only as a technical art but also as a science and the importance of bridging those two worlds. My preferred DAW's are Pro Tools and Logic Pro
Trumpet

Trumpet

I have studied the skill of trumpet playing since I was 11 years old and have been fortunate enough to gain much insight to this end. Brass pedagogy and the art of virtuosic playing are core tenets of my goals for my students no matter the genre. This is highly achievable regardless of skill level with my strong focus on foundational playing techniques.
