Bio

I graduated from K-State, majored in Chemical Engineering with a minor in German. Some of my hobbies are playing the violin and reading. I enjoy being able to help others in math and science. I can tutor math from Kindergarten to Calculus level, as well as Chemistry and German. I spent two years living in Germany. Being able to rely the information to the students in an understandable manner always works the best for me. For math, I like for them to have a book so that we can go through examples together and I know exactly what they are being taught. When tutoring German I have found the best way is immersion, I will do my best to teach the language in the same manner that one learns his native language. Don't hesitate to send me a message, if you have more questions.

Very sweet and friendly however ineffective tutoring style.

Jenae T is a good tutor for those looking for a peer to peer tutoring session. I particularly was in need of someone who had mastered the chemistry subject so that I might be able to better understand the formulas and equations. Jenae was not very organized so when meeting with her I had to come up with how to start and what to bring up though I had sent topics via email. She could not remember certain steps and had a hard time explaining is process for each question. I feel like that in two hours we should have been able to get through more subjects. The subjects we did go through I did not take away a better understanding of. When arriving for my second lesson she was not familiar with the subjects at all. She stated this was because she thought we would continue with the same steps as before and next time she would bring her college Chemistry book. Though she does not charge much compared to some tutors I really felt as if I was wasting my money. If you are looking for peer to peer type tutoring she is very sweet and friendly.

Ebony, 1 lesson with Jenae
Tutor responded:

I wish this matter would have been mentioned in person because it is definitely concerning when a student says they understand and is able to solve problems that we worked on and then has complaints later. When tutoring there definitely needs to be a line of communication in order to find the best approach. I would say it is typical for the first tutoring session to go slower to most so that I can gauge what exactly you understand and what type of approach would best suit you as some people respond better to peer to peer tutoring however, I do understand this is not for everybody. This is definitely something that should have been mentioned immediately. Coming to the second lesson I feel like she expected me to teach her the material although she had not even looked over the chapter at all. As a tutor I expect for the student to have at least given the material an effort before coming to a tutoring session because tutoring does require effort from both sides which was unfortunately lacking.
