Hi, my name is Alisha! I enjoy working with elementary students and have for twelve years. I am a paraprofessional with a degree in Elementary Education from Fort Hays State University. I have had the opportunities to work in some incredible reading programs: Success for All and Fast ForWord. Although Reading and Math are mainly what I have tutored students in before, I will gladly take any elementary student in any subject area. If I don't have the material, I will get it.
When I tutor students I customize lessons to meet their needs. I will start out by getting to know a student and ask what are her interest and thoughts on her work. Students coming to work on reading I will find reading material that will pertain to their interest. I also have taken request from teachers and worked on the material the teacher has sent and supplemented their homework as well. For all content areas I try to make thing as interactive and hands on as possible. I will take the time to review study, test, and organizational skills if requested. My goal is to make sure the students feel confident and have tools to be successful. Hi, my name is Alisha! I enjoy working with elementary students and have for twelve years. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
