High-Impact Elementary Tutor - Math and Reading Prep on a Budget

Hi, I’m Jesse!

For me, there is absolutely nothing better than a good lightbulb moment. Watching a child’s face completely light up when a tough concept finally clicks is exactly why I do what I do. I love teaching, but I truly love tutoring because I get to focus entirely on a child’s specific needs, and my entire job revolves around obtaining those lightbulb moments that I enjoy so much.

I currently work as a High-Impact Math Tutor at LISA Academy, and I have over five years of experience working inside school classrooms and children's ministries. While I have worked with students all the way up through 12th grade, my true passion is elementary-aged kids. I love helping the little ones learn, grow, and get ahead of the game.

Over the years, I have taught full classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one sessions, and I feel my approach to learning may be a little different than most educators. I don't use a single, strict teaching style. I will switch up my approach as many times as it takes until we find the one that clicks. Most of my techniques, however, include:

The "Teach Me" Method: I love to have kids "teach me" the concept once we go over it. The thing is, if you can teach it, you can do it. It is as easy as that.

Learning Through Play: I actively turn standard lessons into games, puzzles, riddles, or competitive challenges. My goal is to disguise "learning" into anything but that.

Confidence First: I want to make your child feel smart! If a child feels smart, they are open and receptive to learning. If they feel stuck or "dumb," they shut down.

My ultimate passion this summer is to be the most affordable, flexible, and high-quality option to get your child perfectly prepped for the next grade level. While my core specialties are Math and Reading (specifically Phonics), I am more than happy to assist in any subject area your child needs.
