As an educator with over 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience, I use the Science of Reading phonics system. I obtained my Masters of Education with a Reading Specialist and Early Childhood Concentration and taught Kindergarten for two years, as well as preschool. I tutor young children in person and online currently, primarily in reading difficulties, using UFLI and other proven techniques. Young and elementary school children prefer hands-on, multi sensory learning experiences and I provide a variety of learning activities to help even reluctant learners practice reading, grammar, writing and math skills. My current licenses include PK - 3, K- 6 General Elementary Education, 5 - 8 Language Arts, 6 - 12 Family & Consumer Science, and 5 - 12 Tech Ed.

As a current middle and high school educator, I manage a wide variety of students with learning abilities and challenges. I use proven phonological awareness techniques, as well as reading comprehension lessons, to increase students' critical thinking skills. I help students manage their classroom materials and help with executive functioning to enable growth and eventual success in managing time, learning materials and life skills. Older students also enjoy hands-on learning and many of my lessons provide the opportunity to practice life skills, such as recipe reading, math conversions, financial literacy, preparing for higher education and career research. I teach a multitude of classes under my current Family and Consumer Science license including Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Child Development, Human Development & Wellness, FACS: Cooking and Sewing, and Preparing for College and Careers.

I can assist your student in learning to live a life based on solid literacy skills, whether it be reading, writing or financial and life literacy. I am licensed in several states and have experience living in different parts of the country, allowing me to see your students for who they are.
