I truly enjoy helping students build confidence and understanding in math. Whether you're preparing for an upcoming test, need help with homeschool curriculum, catching up in class, or striving for top grades, I tailor each lesson to meet your individual learning style and goals.
I earned bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Mathematics Education from Indiana University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. During my studies, I received multiple awards recognizing excellence in both mathematics and education. I also hold a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction, which has strengthened my ability to teach students with a wide range of learning styles and academic needs.
My tutoring experience began in high school as a peer tutor in the Special Education department. While attending IU, I worked as a tutor, helping students in high school and college-level math courses. Working in IU's Math lab alongside top math and science majors strengthened my tutoring skills as we shared effective teaching strategies, problem-solving techniques, and multiple approaches to explaining difficult concepts. I have 19 years experience tutoring (elementary through Calculus) in a variety of settings, including colleges, high schools, libraries, online, and private one-on-one sessions.
I taught high school mathematics for six years, where I instructed courses including Remedial Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Algebra II Honors, Dual Credit Precalculus and Trigonometry, Algebra Test Preparation, and co-taught Special Education Algebra. These experiences have given me extensive knowledge of state standards, college readiness, and strategies for helping struggling learners as well as students seeking advanced coursework.
I like to break complex ideas into manageable steps, encourage students to ask questions, and build confidence through guided practice. My goal is not only to help students succeed on their next assignment or exam, but also to develop the problem-solving skills they can carry into future math courses.
