I am a licensed Indiana educator with experience working with students from elementary through high school in both classroom and small-group settings. Over the last several years, I have worked as a substitute teacher throughout my district, where I developed a reputation as "the sub who does." Rather than simply supervising a classroom, I actively teach lessons, engage students, and keep learning moving forward. Teachers often leave instructional plans knowing that meaningful learning will continue while they are away.
In addition to substitute teaching, I have served in long-term assignments as both a third-grade and fourth-grade teacher at Liberty Elementary. I have also worked in a semi-long-term Project Lead The Way (PLTW) position at the middle school level, guiding students through STEM projects and hands-on learning experiences. Throughout my career, I have worked with students across a wide range of grade levels, abilities, and learning styles. I am frequently requested by special education teachers and exceptional learner classrooms because of my ability to build relationships, adapt instruction, and help students find success.
The best part of being a teacher is the "ah-ha" moment—that flash of realization when a student finally understands a skill or concept and gains confidence in their abilities. Once that candle is lit, all we have to do is keep the fire burning. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them believe in themselves as learners. Whether I am helping a student strengthen reading skills, tackle a challenging math concept, explore STEM topics, improve study habits, or build confidence speaking and understanding English, I strive to create a patient, encouraging environment where growth is celebrated and every student can succeed.
