I have been a teacher for eleven years now. I started my career as a 2nd grade for four years before making the change to Title I and Reading. I taught Title I at the elementary level for three years and have been a middle school reading specialist for the last four years. All of this has given me experience working with students in large groups, small groups, and one-on-one, so I'm comfortable being able to adapt my instruction to individual student's needs.
In addition to my classroom experience, I've also had training working with kids with dyslexia. I've had training both with the Wilson Reading System and Brainspring's Phonics First and Structures programs, which are Orton-Gillingham based programs. I have experience working with students using Phonics First and Structures in small group and one-on-one settings. I also have two years of experience tutoring 2nd grade students with dyslexia using these multi-sensory programs.
