While I enjoy the classroom setting, I believe I help a student or client most by working with them one on one to improve their communication or writing. My writing classes were always conducted as workshops so that I could help students individually.

I obtained my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in English with a focus on language. My expertise in English ranges from the finer points of punctuation, grammar, syntax to writing sentences, paragraphs, topic sentences, thesis statements and essays. I assist with writer's block, brainstorming and organizing thoughts. In my most recent corporate job, my company employed both Spanish-speaking and Japanese-speaking individuals. Because of my background, I conducted conversation classes to help these non-native speakers improve their abilities to communicate within our manufacturing setting. I am currently pursuing my certificate in teaching English as a foreign language.

I spent several years working for a career transition company where I personally coached over 500 clients in the career transition and development process. As part of the process, I helped the client identify their strengths, and what type of job they wanted. We also wrote long-term career goals so that they had a plan to achieve not just the next step but the one after that. I coached them on how to write resumes that highlighted their strengths and how to write cover letters. I also prepared them for the interview process, conducted practice interviews and

For 10 years, I operated my own small consulting company providing executive level services in leadership and career development, organizational communication and process documentation. For several years, I was on the MBA faculty of the leading online university, and I have served on a board of directors. I will teach you how to prepare for an interview, conduct mock behavioral interviews using the STAR method, and I will help you write your two minute commercial as well as your LinkedIn profile and personal brand website. I will guide you in developing a career plan and coach you through the process of getting unstuck, changing jobs or career direction, transitioning to self-employment or into retirement.

I have a passion for improving reading comprehension. Students learn how to read for more than a superficial understanding of a word, sentence or passage. During the process of working with me, students improve vocabulary, improve their ability to understand multiple choice questions and answers, learn to summarize, identify main ideas. Because I use written exercises to assess comprehension, students also receive feedback on their writing skills.
