Greetings, and thank you for visiting my profile! By way of introduction, my name is Brandon Zurvalec and I am a K - 5 reading tutor. To tell a little about my journey, I completed my teacher licensure program at Chicago State University in 2016 and have been a licensed educator ever since. I have worked both in and out of the classroom and have teaching experience at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
I now teach K - 5 reading privately on a full-time basis, as this is the best fit for me as an educator. As a part of this, I am an expert-level member of the Reading Simplified Academy, which provides evidence-based training, etc. for reading educators. Results that I have achieved include helping students read on grade level, pass standardized reading assessments and test out of special services. I'll work with any young reader who needs the help and many of my students have learning differences such as ADHD, dyslexia and general learning disability.
Prior to becoming a teacher, I earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Michigan State University (2001) as well as a law degree from New York Law School (2006). I did work as an attorney for some time but just never found fulfillment in that role and being a teacher has served me much better, in that respect. On my free time, yes, I love to read and I try to get outside as often as I can. In addition, I am a proud family man who loves spending time with my wife, Pachicha, daughter, Natalie and son, Avery.
