Come READ and SPELL with me! My name is Allison and I am a Certified Orton-Gillingham Instructor and an educator of over 16 years. I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with an Early Literacy Endorsement. I am currently a Reading Specialist and focus on intervention and remediation. I have extensive training in structured literacy approaches and the science of reading. My teaching career began as a classroom teacher for 10 years before becoming a reading specialist and dyslexia coordinator for my district the last six years. I have a passion for teaching reading and unlocking the potential in each and every student!

I began tutoring in 2018 and specialize in Kindergarten to third grade. I provide one on one or small group experiences and use evidence-based instructional methods and materials. I am also able to provide screening and assessments for diagnostic needs and parental support.

I am a mom myself and understand the importance of quality tutoring. I strive to provide maximum learning in an efficient delivery to my students. I respect your child's needs and your time with every session. I am passionate about providing the necessary tools to impact reading success in every student!

Dyslexia

I am trained and certified in Orton-Gillingham which is the evidence-based method of reading instruction for teaching students with dyslexia. My training has equipped me to pass the KPEERI (Knowledge and Practice Examination for Effective Reading Instruction) exam in 2024. I hold a job title of Dyslexia Coordinator at my school district where my responsibilities include screening all K-2 students for dyslexia, providing parental support and guidance, and administering diagnostic testing on all students who are flagged for being at risk for dyslexia. I then provide those students with proper literacy intervention and a comprehensive reading plan.
