I am a sworn, full-time certified Indiana law enforcement officer who holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Indiana University South Bend, earned in December of 2021.
I began my career in May of 2022 as a Correctional Officer before being promoted to the rank of Patrolman at the same agency in January of 2023. In August of 2023, I graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy as an Honor Graduate, a distinction awarded to only a handful of graduates in my class. Upon graduation, I received my Tier I Certification through the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board, which authorizes full law enforcement authority throughout the State of Indiana.
Since then, I have worked full-time patrol for my agency, which is one of Indiana’s largest county law enforcement agencies, serving an unincorporated area with high call volume and moderate criminal activity. Our patrol area borders two large urban areas, and we regularly assist neighboring agencies as criminal activity extends beyond city limits into the county.
My daily work includes responding to calls for service, conducting proactive enforcement, working criminal investigations, making arrests, conducting interviews, and writing reports. I routinely develop criminal cases through these duties and proactive enforcement, requiring the practical application of constitutional law, Indiana criminal law, and federal and state case law. I have also testified as a witness for the State in multiple cases.
For approximately two years, I have served as a Field Training Officer, training several new officers now serving independently in patrol. I serve as an Advisor for my agency’s Cadet Program, teaching youth about law enforcement and helping prepare them to enter the Criminal Justice field.
My tutoring approach is practical and scenario-based. I want students to understand why legal standards matter, which facts are legally significant, how changing facts affect the analysis, and how criminal justice concepts are applied in real situations.
