Hi there! I am a currently a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) student at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine. Before pursuing medicine, I was a full-time math/science teacher with a Master of Education (M.Ed.) I received my B.S. in Neuroscience, Education, and Theology at the University of Notre Dame with a pre-medical concentration. I have an extensive background in the education of both youth and adults as well as special needs students. Inspired by the connections between education and neurological development, I pursued an M.Ed. before entering medicine to further my passions in adolescent psychiatry.

With thousands of hours spent with students, I've developed a passion for youth education, psychiatric health, and their impact on the developing mind. I love meeting new people, and education is one of my main passions. I have taught both online and in classrooms from early childhood to adult education with experience in curriculum development, math, English, and science. Additionally, my research has examined educational opportunity and neurological development.

I believe education should be enjoyable without the burden of academic stress and pressure! Learning should be a wonderful and fruitful process. I utilize broad pedagogical methods to ensure that my students receive a versatile foundation setting them up for success. Through this method, my students are exposed to multiple dimensions of problem-solving which applies to other areas of their academics and their life! I have also found that this is much more enjoyable for both students and myself.

My academic background extends far and wide, but my current focus is on math up to college calculus, the sciences, social sciences, and various humanities. Scoring in the top 1% of the SAT, the top 3% on the MCAT, and the highest range on CASPER has provided me with a foundation to teach both standardized exams. I am also a National Merit Commended Scholar.

Brilliant

Matthew began with out rising 6th and 7th grade today. He engaged so well with them. He explained concept clearly. He encouraged them and pointed out things to work on before the next session. They both thought it went very well.

positive, knowledgeable and kind

Today was our first meeting to establish a plan for SAT preparation. Matthew was kind and knowledgeable in establishing rapport with my daughter. He also seemed in tune with us as a family in making a plan that is financially beneficial. (the coronavirus has affected employment in our family) Definitely a good start.
