Hello! My name is Kaitlyn, and I’m an incoming student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where I plan to study Mathematics. I’ve taken advanced mathematics throughout high school, including Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Ordinary Differential Equations, and Complex Analysis through Harvard University. I earned a perfect 800 SAT Math score, scored a 5 on both the AP Calculus BC Exam (with a 5 AB subscore) and the AP Statistics Exam, and am a five-time AIME qualifier, MathCounts National Qualifier, USACO Silver competitor, two-time ACSL All-Star, and three-time Math Prize for Girls contestant. I have also participated in mathematical research and enrichment programs, including the Ross Mathematics Program.
For the past three years, I have worked at Mathnasium, where I have taught students ranging from kindergarten through high school in subjects from foundational arithmetic to calculus. During my time there, I was promoted from Instructor to Senior Instructor and ultimately to Lead Instructor. In these roles, I assessed students, developed individualized learning plans, and was voted as Instructor of the Month twice by both students and fellow instructors for my ability to connect and communicate with students.
I served as an assistant coach for MathCounts, helping middle school students develop problem-solving strategies and build confidence in mathematics. Through both individual tutoring and group coaching, I have worked with students of varying skill levels and learning styles.
My tutoring philosophy centers on developing problem-solving skills and recognizing patterns that allow them to approach unfamiliar problems independently. Whether a student needs help preparing for the SAT or AP exams, excelling in a math class, or exploring competition mathematics, I strive to help students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing as learners.
Please reach out with any questions. I would be happy to discuss your goals and how I can help you or your student succeed.
