My name is Chris W. First of all, thanks for checking out my profile! I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the State University of New York at Potsdam, a master's degree in chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh, and over ten years experience teaching college-level chemistry. I've taught both lab and lecture-based courses (in-person and online) for Ivy Tech community college. I also currently teach lab-based courses for Indiana University-Purdue University and Franklin College.
I'm well-versed in general chemistry topics including, but not limited to: matter and measurement, atomic structure, nomenclature, chemical reactions and stoichiometry, balancing chemical equations, thermochemistry, electronic structure, chemical bonding, kinetics, and chemical equilibrium. I can also tutor select topics in analytical and organic chemistry.
My pedagogical approach heavily incorporates the following:
1. Online videos for introducing content
2. Games/puzzles
3. Worksheets
4. Hands-on activities
You'll find I am a laid-back, approachable, and patient person. I truly enjoy working one-on-one with students to help them navigate a sometimes-daunting topic (i.e. chemistry) that I am passionate about.
