Tutoring is not just a job, but it is a lifestyle that I have chosen for myself. I am a committed math tutor who is passionate about student success. As a tutor, my goal is to get every student that I work with to connect to and understand the material. I typically employ a reconstruction method during my tutoring sessions. By reconstruction, I mean I help the student build (construct) the concepts by asking a series of questions that he or she needs to answer in order to understand the material. This method not only allows me to help the students do the computations, but also helps the students retain the knowledge better. Another method that I typically employ is to relate mathematics is to relate the material back to things people know about. I have a wide variety of interests that I use to help communicate with people. These interests range from art and cooking to science. A great example is how I can relate the relationship between a function, its derivative, and its second derivative to position, speed, and acceleration. All of math has its roots in the natural sciences and should be explored in that context. With that being said, I find that I love tutoring calculus and differential equations the most because that is when the examples get interesting.

This method of mine has been something I have tweaked over a period of 7 years. I started teaching mathematics in the fall of 2008 and have continued teaching since then (also worked as a tutor for the last 4 years). I have worked at places like Ivy Tech Community College and Northern Illinois University. The classes I have taught and can tutor for ranges from basic arithmetic up to differential equations and linear algebra. My most recent reviews from Waubonsee Community College are great. One student even stated that I was the best professor he ever had. I am highly qualified to be a tutor as I have a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics from Purdue University and a Graduate Certificate in Statistics

I successfully taught Differential Equations at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, Illinois during the summer of 2015. All but one of my students passed with no less than a C. The one student dropped the class. In this case, I started with 6 students and 5/6 passed the course.
Linear Algebra,

Very helpful and knowledgeable!

Brad has been helping me address my deficiencies in calculus and statistics and he has done a great job explaining the concepts and techniques needed for each problem.

Great experience - knowledgeable and patient Linear Algebra tutor

Brad was very helpful and understanding - he took the time to explain everything about each problem, and was enthusiastic about answering any questions I had. I would definitely recommend him.

Knowledgeable and helpful tutor with great teaching skills and animated with the subject

Brad taught my son calculus. I was in the background while the tutoring session was going on. I could hear my son with the expressions that he was using, that the calculus material they were going over was really starting to make sense. He makes the student feel very at ease and he can teach what he says he can teach. Brad also uses the hour session well, he is very professional.

He knows his stuff!

So far I've used about 5 different tutors on Wyzant and Brad really stood out. While I've had good experiences with all of my tutors, Brad really went above and beyond with explaining the concepts of what we were working on. He's calm, collected, and incredibly knowledgable. I'm taking calculus 2 in college so we were working on a lot of integration. Before we moved on to each problem, he would make sure I was certain that I understood how to solve each problem. I also loved that he was able to work through each problem on the white board so I can refer back to it if I needed after the lesson. With all that said, I will absolutely have more sessions with Brad. He seems like he has a busy schedule so I would definitely try to give him a heads up!

Knowledgeable, patient, very caring tutor

What I like about Brad the most is that he gently tested the knowledge and detected which topics need to be reviewed. He is very kind, patient and easy going. Highly recommend Brad.

Explains things very easy to understand, knowledgeable, communicates very well

I am reviewing high school math, which seems to come very easy for him. He is bright, yet can explain the concepts with ease. I found him to be very easy to understand, and he was super patient with me.

Linear Algebra

Brad is excellent in the Linear Algebra. I completly rely on him for the homework help for my son. He also nice to accomodate my last miniute request to meet the deadline for son's assignment.

generous teacher

Because I can only schedule a certain time for my student, I asked Brad to make the session to 50 minutes instead of 1 hour as he went over 10 minutes last time. He charged for 50 Minutes but had a one hour session with my student. It shows how he cares about the student. And my student enjoys his class a lot too. Thank you!

Great teacher!

Brad helped me conquer the simpson's rule and trapezoid rule. He helped me to see it in an excel spreadsheet where we calculated the approximate areas. Then we calculated area. I was able to pass my exam, and gain confidence knowing that I can continue to learn, and grow my skills in Calculus 2 and pass this class! Thank you Brad!
