Hello fellow learners! I am very excited to work with you. I have spent the last 10 years studying high-level math, physics, computer engineering, and philosophy. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I spent five years working for NVIDIA as a computer architect, making their chips more power-efficient. I left that program in order to pursue a more service-oriented career. I am working as a substitute teacher and web developer while I prepare to begin a master’s program in Theology at the University of Notre Dame.
I have 10 years of experience tutoring students in high school math, helping them learn what they need to meet and surpass their testing goals, and to master skills that they will use for the rest of their lives. I believe students learn best when they have opportunities to practice applying skills and concepts in real-life situations, whether it’s cooking, sports, music, business, or any other hobby that they already love and understand well. This approach keeps students engaged, shows them that they already understand many of these ideas better than they might think, and helps them move from short-term memorization to long-term internalization — to true learning.
I am most experienced in tutoring high school math, but I am very comfortable teaching any age from 7th grade through sophomore year in college. I can teach any SAT or ACT subject, physics (especially electromagnetism), computer science and engineering, and classical philosophy. I am also very interested in helping all learners, including young adults, forge their life vision and take the next best steps in that direction. Let’s get to work!
