Hello, and welcome to my page! My two great passions in life are writing and history, and one of my favorite things in the world is getting to share these passions and help others discover all the great things about them. For now, I am focused on teaching writing and English, as I find that they are easy to engage with for both tutor and pupil.
I first discovered my passion for writing in elementary school and I carried it all throughout my education, eventually earning a degree in English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University in 2018. Following that, I returned to my old high school to work as a substitute teacher for several years. As enjoyable as it was to work with the students there, I wanted to do more than just fill in for existing teachers. For a short time I explored the rigors of full-time teaching, but found it too constraining. I instead started tutoring in the fall of 2021 and I have enjoyed the endeavor ever since.
What I often like to do is approach writing as a puzzle to work out with my students. Grammar and syntax can be extremely imposing when you approach them full-force; when broken down into little puzzle pieces to mix and match and fit together to create a smooth, flowing sentence it becomes an easy - and even fun - experience! Even for a passionate writer, editing can be a slow and arduous process, but when it's treated like a game it gains a life all its own in the creative process. If I can impart anything upon my students at the end of my tutoring, it is an appreciation for the true freedom that English and its rules offer to a writer.
