Hi! I am a statistics professor at Ball State University where I currently teach upper-level probability and statistics courses, as well as introductory quantitative reasoning courses. Previously I taught introductory statistics courses at two different community colleges. I have a bachelor’s degree in statistics and mathematics and a master’s degree in statistics. I think that’s all the formalities!

Throughout my academic and professional journey, my passion has always been working with students. Building relationships and getting to know students all while helping is what makes my job so fun! I know first-hand that a professor can totally change the experience you can have in a course, and I always make it a priority to give students the opportunity to interact with me, their classmates, and of course the material as much as possible. And spending one-on-one time with students is a great way to further a student’s understanding and is very rewarding from my perspective.

Content-wise, I have a ton of experience teaching introductory statistics / probability. Additionally, I am teaching an actuarial Exam P prep class and where several of my students have already passed! Maybe my favorite part of statistics is using software such as R and Excel. I am very experienced with these applications and would love to nerd out and help explore these with you!

I am easy to reach and will always respond quickly, feel free to contact me with additional questions or to schedule a lesson!

Actuarial Science

Actuarial Science

I have passed Exam P and currently teach an Exam P prep course at Ball State University where we cover all material on the syllabus in depth. Several students have already passed Exam P after being in this course!
Probability

Probability

I teach an upper-level Probability (calculus-based) class where we cover basic concepts of probability, discrete distributions, continuous distributions and multivariate probability. I have also passed Exam P given by the SOA.
R

R

I currently teach a data visualization course entirely in R where we go through the basics of loading, manipulating, cleaning, summarizing and ultimately displaying data using the R package ggplot. I have also done several research projects that conducted simulation studies implemented in R, including a Bayesian application in an actuarial context, which included an interactive shiny app.
Statistics

Statistics

I have a master's degree in statistics and have taught several introductory level statistics courses as well as upper-level statistics courses. For introductory courses, I have lots of materials I could provide that include examples, explanations and technology help. For advanced courses, I am also familiar with how to implement methods in R.
