My name is Kerri Getz, and I am an experienced nursing tutor, nurse educator, and NCLEX coach with more than 20 years of nursing experience and over 10 years in higher education. My educational background includes a BSN, MSN, and PhD in Nursing Education, and I am a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). I currently serve as full-time nursing faculty at Indiana University East and have experience teaching traditional college-aged and adult nursing students in classroom, laboratory, simulation, online, and one-on-one tutoring settings.

My background includes medical-surgical nursing, critical care, pharmacology, pathophysiology, NCLEX preparation, and clinical judgment development. I have also worked as an NCLEX Live Review Educator and item writer with experience developing NGN-style questions aligned with the Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (CJMM).

I have extensive experience supporting nursing students through individualized tutoring, test-taking strategy development, academic support, and NCLEX preparation. My teaching approach focuses on helping students truly understand concepts rather than simply memorizing information. I incorporate active learning strategies, prioritization frameworks, practice questions, and realistic patient scenarios to strengthen comprehension, clinical reasoning, and confidence.

I specialize in NCLEX preparation, medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology, pathophysiology, dosage calculations, clinical judgment/NGN preparation, and nursing school exam preparation. My tutoring sessions are individualized based on each student’s learning needs and goals, and I strive to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence.

I look forward to supporting you throughout your nursing school journey and helping you develop the clinical judgment and test-taking skills needed for success. Please feel free to contact me to learn more or schedule a tutoring session.

Approved Subjects

HESI (Nursing exam)

HESI (Nursing exam)

I currently use the Evolve 360 platform with nursing students, including HESI assessments, and have insight into effective strategies for improving assessment performance and scores. I am familiar with using the HESI blueprint to help students identify high-priority content areas, testing patterns, and clinical judgment expectations commonly seen on assessments. I also assist students with evaluating weaker content areas and testing trends following unsuccessful attempts to create more focused and individualized study plans. My approach emphasizes understanding concepts, strengthening clinical reasoning, and improving test-taking strategies rather than simply memorizing information.
NCLEX

NCLEX

I have extensive experience supporting nursing students and NCLEX candidates through individualized tutoring, test-taking strategy development, remediation support, and clinical judgment preparation. My background includes working as an NCLEX Live Review Educator and item writer with experience developing NGN-style questions aligned with the Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (CJMM). I also currently teach nursing students in higher education and incorporate NCLEX-style application, prioritization, and clinical reasoning strategies into my teaching and tutoring approach.
Nursing

Nursing

I am a nurse educator with over 10 years of teaching experience and a strong background in helping nursing students improve dosage calculation and NCLEX-style test performance. I have taught pharmacology, critical care, medical-surgical nursing, and clinical courses in BSN programs, and I enjoy breaking math concepts down into simple, manageable steps that build confidence. I’ve spent the past several years working closely with nursing students to improve dosage calculation scores and reduce test anxiety by focusing on practice, strategy, and understanding the “why” behind the math.
